MEET YOUR TEACHER

Kamila Lichvarova

Hi there!
My name is Kamila, and I’m a professional ballroom and Latin dancer originally from Slovakia. My journey with dance began at just three years old, and ever since, the dance floor and its vibrant community have felt like home.

As a competitive dancer and later as an instructor, I’ve traveled across countries, sharing my passion with people of all ages. Dancing is so much more than staying active—it’s a natural way to express emotions, tell stories, and connect with yourself. It builds discipline, self-control, motivation, and so much more, no matter your age or experience level.

My mission is to share this transformative power of dance through my group classes for ladies, children’s programs, and private lessons for those interested in performance or competition. I’m passionate about not just teaching dance, but teaching it with precision, ensuring proper technique while honoring the body’s natural limits for a healthy and fulfilling experience.

Join me, and let’s explore the beauty of dance together!

The Science of Dance and Its Benefits for Body, Mind, and Soul

Dancing is far more than just a physical activity; it’s a transformative experience that offers profound benefits for mental, cognitive, and social well-being. Studies reveal that regular dance can significantly reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression, thanks to its ability to lower cortisol levels and increase the production of mood-enhancing neurotransmitters like dopamine and serotonin. This unique combination of physical movement and creative expression helps elevate mood and relieve stress, making dance an effective tool for emotional healing.

The combination of movement and music creates an additional layer of benefits. Music has a well-documented healing effect, and when paired with dance, it can enhance positive emotions and feelings of euphoria. According to a review in the Journal of Positive Psychology, moving in sync with music activates brain regions associated with reward and pleasure, making dance a powerful form of emotional expression and well-being.

In summary, dancing is a holistic activity that nurtures the body, mind, and spirit, supporting emotional health, cognitive function, physical fitness, and community connection—all essential elements for a fulfilling and healthy life.

In terms of cognitive health, dance has been found to lower the risk of dementia by up to 76%. Engaging in dance requires a high level of cognitive function, as it involves memory recall, spatial awareness, and the ability to adapt to a partner’s movements. This mental engagement is essential for maintaining cognitive flexibility and overall brain health. A study conducted by the Albert Einstein College of Medicine highlights that dancing is the most effective form of exercise for delaying cognitive decline compared to other physical activities, making it a crucial practice for lifelong brain health.

On the physical side, dancing promotes cardiovascular fitness, balance, and coordination, making it suitable for all ages and fitness levels.
